Matt Covington Looks to Bounce Back After Western Swing

Matt Covington Racing- Glenpool, Ok. (Sept 3, 2025)  After wrapping up a three-week stretch of ASCS National Tour racing across Kansas, Colorado, and Montana, Matt Covington and the Covington Motorsports team have shifted their focus back home as they prepare for a busy three-race weekend in Kansas and Nebraska.

The western run produced four top-five finishes, along with a 9th and 11th, but Covington admits the team never quite hit the level they were aiming for.

“We weren’t horrible, but definitely off a couple nights and overall, not as strong as we needed to be,” Covington said. “We only had one finish outside the top-10 in six races, but honestly never had a night where we were in contention to win, and that was the frustration. We got back to the shop this week and reset, freshened everything up, and I’m optimistic we can get back to where we need to be and challenge for some wins this weekend. Our baseline is good, we just need to be more aggressive with the changes late in the night. You can’t get lost stressing over points. If you’re up front competing for wins, the rest will take care of itself.”

Covington also noted the upcoming tracks are ones where the team has found success in the past, and he’s confident that with execution, they’ll be in the mix for podiums and victories down the stretch.

This weekend’s ASCS National Tour action kicks off Friday at Lakeside Speedway with a double program (a makeup show plus a new event), followed by Saturday at 81 Speedway in Kansas, and Sunday at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska.
