Covington Picks Up First Win of 2023 at Legit Speedway Park
Matt Covington Racing - Glenpool, OK (May 3rd, 2023) Matt Covington earned his first victory of the season at Legit Speedway Park last Saturday night aboard his Fisher Engines/Triple X chassis mount. With the National Tour still idle this past weekend, Matt Covington and the team decided to join the ASCS Warrior/Midsouth region in Missouri.
After moving up from 5th to 2nd in the heat race, Covington pulled the 4th starting position in the A Feature redraw. As the race got underway, Covington worked his Reece Construction/Missile Motorsports machine to the lead early into the feature. Despite a late caution, Covington was unchallenged for the remainder of the race, staying out front as the checkers waved, putting him in victory lane.
“We had the car to put us up front,” stated Matt. “It was nice to get our first win of the year and have something to show for our efforts after struggling the last couple of races. The car was balanced and comfortable all night and I was able to find the speed on the top to get into the lead. I think we got a good direction moving forward and this was definitely a relief for me and all my supporters, along with Steven Lane who’s been learning and busting his butt these first few races of the season.”
Next up for Covington and the team will be more ASCS Warrior region action this upcoming weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland Missouri on Saturday.
