Covington Racing with the Outlaws this Weekend, after Strong Runs at Devil's Bowl
CG Motorsports- GLENPOOL, Ok. (Oct 20th, 2016) Matt Covington came home 5th and 12th this past weekend with the ASCS Lucas Oil National Series at Devils bowls.
Covington had a solid run on Friday which netted a top-5 and 5th place finish, followed by a 12th place on Saturday after a long night battling through the heat, qualifier, and B-main.
“We had speed and were able to have strong runs, that put us in the A-main both nights at Devil’s Bowl last weekend,” stated Covington. “We had a very good car Friday, and I just made a couple of mistakes late in the feature that cost us a lock-in by one spot and a chance to start up front on Saturday. Ending up 5th meant we had to run the heats and qualifier again on Saturday. As luck would have it, when Saturday rolled around, we drew a high pill setting us up for a long night right from the start. We were not able to get any passing points in the heat or qualifier, and had to run the B. We fought hard and were able to charge from 8th to 3rd in the B-main, securing a transfer to the A. We went forward in the A and were battling back and forth at the checkers for the 10th and 11th spots. But we had to settle for 12th in the end. So a solid top-5 run on Friday, and a challenging charge on Saturday after the hole we started in. This weekend we are going to put the 410 in and go run with the Outlaws at Lakeside and Salina. Mine and Tyler’s goal is to learn as much as we can and have some respectable finishes with the Outlaws."
