After a Pair of Top-10s in Missouri, Covington Idle this Weekend in Preparation for Jackson
CG Motorsports- Glenpool, Ok. (Aug 26, 2016) After a long stretch of racing, Matt Covington and the team will take this coming weekend off to prepare for the last stretch run of the 2016 season.
Last weekend the team took on the state of Missouri with the ASCS National tour. Saturday night was scheduled at St. Francois County Raceway and Sunday’s action was at Missouri State Fair Speedway where they walked away with two top-10’s.
Matt was able to finish 10th at St Francois and 6th at State Fair Speedway.
“I was happy with the car we had both nights,” stated Matt. “On Saturday night, I just made some mistakes passing cars and got hung up in traffic more than I should have, which ultimately cost me a couple positions. Sunday night we were pretty good but had to start in the back of our heat. I got enough passing points to make it in the feature, but started outside the top-ten in 11th. Tyler had the car well set up, so I was able to pass some cars and work towards the front. Ultimately we just started too far back to really contend with the leaders and ran out of time once I got to them. But I’m happy with making it up to 6th. I am very optimistic about the direction we’re headed and confident Tyler and I can continue to work together to finish out the 2016 season strong. We’re taking this weekend off to get the 410 and spare car rebuilt from Knoxville, along with getting the trailer reloaded and restocked for the last stretch of the season. We will be back in action next weekend at Jackson for three nights in a row, as we race the 360 on Friday and Sunday, and the 410 on Saturday”
