Covington Collected In A Crash At Creek
Covington Motorsports- GLENPOOL, Ok. (May 13, 2014) Matt Covington’s bad luck would continue last weekend at Creek County Speedway. Covington would be forced to end the night with another DNF after an unavoidable early feature incident.
Matt would draw the fifth starting spot for the ASCS Sooner region heat race. Matt raced up to the third position until loosing brakes with a few laps to go. The loss of brakes on the tacky track would cause Matt to fight the car and fall back to fifth at the checkers.
The fifth place finish in the heat would force Matt into the night’s B main. As the B Main got underway, Matt would set his sights on the leader. After a tough battle for the lead and loss of a nose wing, Matt would come home with the B main win.
With the B main victory, Matt would start the feature in the 19th starting spot. Matt would race hard from the rear of the field but after a hand full of laps he would be collect in a crash starting in front of him. The end result would be a damage left rear and a DNF for the night.
“One of those racing deals,” stated Covington. “Sometimes you miss them and sometimes you cant. I was hoping to come out here tonight and have a solid run in front of all my friends and family. I like being able to race a few miles from home when we get the chance. We got the brakes fixed after the heat race and had the car really good for the feature. I was pretty sure we could have raced up into the top-5. But, luck didn’t go our way and we will get it all fixed and try again next weekend.”
