Win No. 2 For Covington
PETERSEN MEDIA- After testing at the Knoxville Raceway earlier in the week, Matt Covington, and his Matt Covington Racing team headed to West Siloam Springs, OK, where Covington charged to his second win of 2013.
“We started sixth, and had a bad fast racecar,” he said. “I have to thank Jason Martin, my family, and all of my guys for their help, we are really starting to get a ton better.”
Running a heat race, and qualifier format, Covington scored a fourth place finish aboard his T&L Foundry/Triple X/Winters machine, before scoring a win in his qualifier, putting him in the third row for the feature event.
Lining up in the third row, Covington was a rocket once the 20-lap race went green, as he chased after Kyle Chady and Joe Bob Lee.
Getting up into the third spot, Covington cleared Chady on the 8th lap, and set his sights on Lee, who had taken the lead on the third lap.
On the 13th lap, Covington made a huge move on Lee, and simply drove away from the field for the final seven markers.
“It was great to get back up here and get a win,” he said. “Jason (Martin) has really helped us get things straightened out after the horrible start to the year we had, and hopefully we can take this momentum with us to Knoxville, IA this week.”

ON TAP: Covington will now head to the Knoxville Raceway for the 360 Nationals this week. He is scheduled to qualify on Thursday, August 1st.
