Covington Charges To Second at Devil’s Bowl
PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning back to ASCS Regional action over the weekend, Matt Covington put on quite a show at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX as he charged forward to a second place finish at the stripe.
“We have been pretty fast the last few weeks, and it is nice to end up on the podium again,” Covington.
Starting deep in heat race action, Covington raced his way up to a third place finish, which was good enough for him to qualify for the night’s re-draw.
Pulling the ‘six’ pill, Covington lined his T&L Foundry/Triple X/Winters backed entry up in the third row for the feature event.
Covington was very strong as soon as the green flag waived, as he wasted no front working to the front of the pack, as he chased after leader, Kolt Walker.
Matching Walker’s every move, Covington was able to pull alongside him, but was unable to make a pass for the lead, as he stalked Walker, looking for a bobble, or an opening.
Covington would end his night with a second place finish.
“We were fast again,” he said. “The car was great, and we were really able to get up to second pretty quick and give Kolt Walker everything we had. We were about equal, and he drove a great race, and earned that win.”
